I was recently enamoured by the gorgeous “Whatever is done from love” series by @philosopherking1887 and decided to try my hand at illustrating some images from it. This is just a sketch for a gouache painting but I like how it turned out and thought I would share it first, in case the painting goes sideways!

Inspired by Loki’s early 20th Century travels through the United States, his impeccable taste in Midgardian fashion, and his recent discovery of a remarkable illicit herb, as recounted in the first vignette, “Desert Flowers.”

I’m still undecided as to whether to keep this 1920s ‘do or give him closer to the hair he has in the first Thor film. Open to persuasion!

(I’m also borrowing heavily from the Arrow Shirt Collar ads painted by my favourite 20th Century illustrator, JC Leyendecker— who was secretly gay as hell and managed to slip plenty of queer eyefucking between beautiful, well-dressed men into his commercial work. My man.)

Eeeee, thank you so much!!

You know, it’s entirely plausible that Loki got a haircut for the purposes of blending into 1920s Western Midgard.

I know it wasn’t something you’d put in there, but with that little aside about TH playing F. Scott Fitzgerald, the idea all of a sudden wouldn’t leave me alone? Part of me wonders if Loki would have been pleased that slicked-back hair was all the rage— finally, people who understand style!

Well, I didn’t specify anything about hair length… I didn’t really like his slicked-back hair in “Thor,” but maybe there’s a reasonable explanation in his recent (in relative terms) travels in Midgard.

Ooh, @seidrade, I realized that the reason I like the short hair so much is that it makes him look like Desire from the Sandman comics.

And Thor is starting to think that Loki has broken him, that he has been thoroughly ruined for anyone else, for none can stir him the way his brother did. Perhaps that was Loki’s plan from the beginning, trickster that he is.

From the Wyld: Catalyst by @fourletterwordsstartingwithl

The Seidrmaster and the Stormbringer.

Loki and Thor were brought up in two very different worlds: one in the halls of Asgard and her golden city; the second from within the largest frozen forest in all the nine realms. A chance encounter after becoming lost in the great forest becomes the catalyst for change, and they suddenly find themselves mere pieces in a chess game, far greater than they ever thought possible.

thacmis:

Loki’s path led them towards the bath houses. Thor wanted to make his presence known so that they may go together, but he knew that the chances of Loki assenting to such a good idea were slim, and he contented himself with distant watching.

Loki disappeared into a side room for a moment. He emerged several moments later wearing a white, slightly translucent bathrobe made of silky velvet. The sheer whiteness gave his pale skin a little colour, and Thor thought Loki never looked more beautiful than he did now in the rather revealing garment. Thor could not deny his effeminacy, because as Loki undressed to step into the warm waters by his toes, the way he slipped the soft material off his shoulders and let it float to the marble floor was more delicately done than the Goddess of Beauty herself could do, and the slow, deliberate movements were sensual beyond belief. His smooth and sculpted figure was slowly revealed as the bathrobe sighed to the ground, laying in a fluffy white cloud by his feet. It was all Thor could manage to keep breathing behind the pillar from which he spied.

The siren – Thor might as well call him that – slipped into the waters, head and all, making hardly a ripple, and rose a second later like a raven-haired mermaid. The sheen of water gave the pale skin it coated a glow that lured Thor like a moth to light.

A blurb from a Thorki fic I’m currently working on. Hopefully I’ll have the motivation to finish it. OTL

The Gray Paper Series #17About
(Based on Bath of Psyche by Sir Frederic Leighton)

kingloptr:

I thought i’d like to do a bit of fic self promo–

even tho i’m not exactly saying it’s the best writing and this is all old stuff for the most part and i like to think im a bit better now…? but whatevs

Thorki:

HordeThere’s so many children now. Thor doesn’t mind more. Loki can’t bring himself to complain.

EnchantmentThor wants babies. Loki’s not so sure, but Thor is pretty convincing.

HoldThor holds his child for the first time, and reviews why Loki is so overprotective.

For YouLoki has created a magic gift that he needs Thor to keep a hold of.

One Who Wants For NothingLoki is pregnant and happy, and really that’s all Thor ever needs.

GiftLoki asks Thor if Midgardian Christmas means that any type of presents are allowed. Thor says yes, and Loki knows what he wants.

Truth of Indifference and LiesThor is courting Loki. Actively. Loki hesitates to respond but eventually he can’t help giving in. Thor’s thunder draws him outside and he falls to his most basic desires.

Beyond DeathIt is said in the lore that Thor, after battling Jormungandr, will take nine steps and fall dead. Loki will kill, and be killed by, Heimdall. Thor takes those final steps toward his ex-brother/unstable lover so they may have their last moments together.

Frostiron:

Give and TakeLoki makes his choice and gives equally, always equally, eternally equally, for want of this.

SolaceSometimes he can find Loki hiding in some obscure room in the tower, calmly writing down spells in one of the large dusty journals he brought from ‘home’. Tony always walks in quietly—Loki doesn’t like to be startled or disturbed when reviewing his magic. But he can’t help bringing Loki things he loves, like sweets, or more books, or the occasional obnoxious distraction in the form of relentless flirting (or more obvious affections).

Of Gods and Avidity

a·vid·i·ty. noun.

1. Ardent desire or craving; eagerness.

Kylux:

Sustenance:

Hux discovers something unusual about Kylo, and his curiosity gets the best of him.

Unwind

Hux is totally Kylo Ren’s body pillow and there’s very little Hux can do about it.

Perchance to Dream

A Prompt fill for Kyluxsoftkinks:

“Hux really loves to cuddle but he is ashamed to admit that to Kylo so he usually waits until Kylo falls asleep to snuggle into him. One night Kylo is still awake when Hux clings onto him. Hux is mortified, but to Hux’s relief, Kylo just kisses Hux goodnight and wraps his arms around him tightly as if it was not a big deal.”

I commissioned @kingloptr to illustrate a scene from the first fic in my Thorki series, “Desert Flowers.” I’m feeling really good about my spending decisions right now.

The relevant scene is excerpted under the cut.

“Let’s take a concrete example.” Loki’s smile still looked hungry, but it wasn’t the predatory hunger it had shown just a moment ago. “Every society that we might consider advanced by any criteria—technological or cultural—has had a taboo against incest. But what makes us think that it is really, truly morally wrong?”

Thor’s breath caught. “Well, it certainly makes sense—children born of incestuous unions, especially several generations of them, are more likely to be born with deformities, or congenital diseases…”

“All right, but what if precautions were taken to prevent conception? Or—what about relations between family members of the same sex?”

Thor felt his heart beating faster, and its erratic thumping seemed to be located nearer his throat than usual. He was frozen in place as Loki stood, walked deliberately around the table, and leaned over Thor’s chair, his fists resting on its arms. Thor knew what he was going to do, and something in his brain screamed wrong, but he also couldn’t bring himself to move. Loki rested one knee on the seat of the chair, his leg brushing lightly against Thor’s; then he leaned forward and pressed his lips against his brother’s. For reasons he didn’t want to think about, Thor found his mouth opening under Loki’s, letting in the questing tip of his tongue, meeting it with his own. Loki’s movements were a bit clumsy—Thor had reason to think he had never really done this before—but his smell was heady, at once deeply familiar and utterly new, and his tongue tasted of ash and honey and something undefinable.

Finally Loki pulled away, much too soon and not nearly soon enough, and grinned down at Thor’s shocked expression. He had wanted to do that for ages, but he could never think of a pretext; and what better than the influence of foreign drugs, combined with the desire to prove a point? Well, he had answered one question about himself: he was not completely uninterested in the pleasures of the flesh; he only wanted the one person he could never have. The one person he wanted to have because he was everything Loki could never be: all easy, open warmth, guileless joy, effortless strength; the sun shining through stormclouds, made flesh.

“Well, Thor? Did the earth cry out against us? Has the sky fallen around our ears?”

“No, but—”  Thor tried to gather his scattered wits. He had no idea what that was about, but figured it was safest to treat it as a joke. “Norns, Loki, the lengths you’ll go to just to win an argument…”

‘Just’? Loki thought. Well, if it comforted Thor to think so, let him. “No, but…?”

“But it still felt… wrong.

Loki pushed away from Thor’s chair, stood upright, and folded his arms. He felt stung, unexpectedly, but was quick to hide it behind his air of arch playfulness. “Wrong how? Did you feel outrage? Indignation? Or something more like… disgust?”

Thor paused, unsure what to say. Disgust was not the word he would have chosen, but… it had felt something like nausea. Or that adrenaline-intoxicated point where nausea and hunger meet.

Loki took his silence as an answer. “And that, brother, is the power of the morality of mores—of custom. You can’t think of a reason why it was wrong; no one was harmed, no one’s rights violated. But custom tells you it was wrong: something we just don’t do. And your reaction—disgust, not indignation—was fundamentally an aesthetic one.”

Thor shook his head, trying to banish the feeling of Loki’s lips on his, the memory of his newly novel smell. “I think I lost track of what point you were making.”

Loki sat down again in his own chair, picked up his long-forgotten mead goblet, and took a sip. “The point, Thor, is that morality has been half aesthetic—or more than half—for all of history, and long before.”
