Frigga lapses into silence, stroking Loki’s hair. “There is the sea in you,” she says softly. For no reason Loki can discern, she looks close to tears. “It is calling.”
Loki does not know what to say to that, only that he must ease the sorrowful look on his mother’s face. “I’m here, mama.”
“Yes,” Frigga smiles sweetly at him, tinged with something he will only later come to recognize as heartbreak. “You’re here. My Loki.”
Loki falls asleep that night rocked in his mother’s arms and does not hear her whisper into his hair, “For now.”

I took 2 of the prompts and wrote chapter 1 cause I’m hopeless with one shots. I hope I will be forgiven.

“It had been a fortnight since Thor had asked Loki whether it was possible to shapeshift into a female Ás for the purpose of producing an heir. Thor wasn’t at all sure that Loki had been trying, or even wanted to, and he was reluctant to bring it up again so soon. He had not given up, however; now that he had permitted himself the hope that he might truly wed Loki and rule beside him as king and consort, he would not let go of that hope so quickly…
“Loki was waiting for him, sitting on the edge of their bed. As Thor approached, however, he noticed that Loki’s posture was strangely tense, and there was something different about his face. He paused, frowning, and Loki stood, looking anxious. ‘Well, I’ve done it,’ he said, and his voice was higher than its usual register, though with the same smoothness and musical cadence.”

Thank you so much, @idioticintentions! I’m still working on my own contribution to the exchange (I’ve had a lot of shit going on, most notably an on-campus visit to a university where I’ve applied for a job, and then I came down with the flu immediately afterward), so I won’t be able to get around to reading it until a little later. But it looks fantastic and I’m greatly looking forward to it!!

While my parents were in town for my defense and we were at a memorial service for a semi-distant relative who died unexpectedly, I missed the second anniversary of my first Thor/Loki fic, Desert Flowers, which was posted on January 15, 2016.
