Tony Stark meeting Shuri for the first time goes a little like this in my mind??

Shuri not terrified, Shuri is brave and stubborn and knows she’s smarter than Tony. But she also knows that up until now Tony’s been under the impression that he’s the smartest and he’s the best. So she’s worried, not of him turning out to be smarter, but of him being insulted by her genius.

And they meet and Shuri show’s him her work and he stay’s ridiculously quiet through most of the ordeal, only asking questions here and there. Watching her work with the sand tables as she explains each item in her lab and Tony watches closely.

And then, she stops, cause she’s shown him everything and told him what everything is and she just looks at him and waits for the ‘this is child’s play’ comment and to have to defend herself against a man who doesn’t know shit.

And slowly Tony lifts up his sunglasses and his eyes are fucking shining and his grin is huge and he looks at her like she’s the best thing to touch planet earth and he just mutters, “I’ve never had to say this, but explain that again, and slower.”

Shuri shouting out the floor is lava and recording the confusion among the avengers wondering why tchalla king of Wakanda hopped up on a counter cause goddammit his little sister pulls this shit all the time and peter is stuck on the wall because he’s also a child of the internet and understands the meme life and now his fate is sealed there will never not be a time Shuri isn’t camera ready and yelling out the floor is lava to see the wackiest places she could get peter to stick on

T’Challa ignored her once so she developed synthetic deployable lava and the next time she yelled the floor is lava it actually was. T’Challa lives in fear now because he knows if he doesn’t pretend the floor is dangerous, it will be.

Once she got peter to stick onto T’Challa.

before you take off on the fact that there are outdated memes in black panther (”what are those” and “whip my hair back and forth” are the two i noticed) consider that wakanda is an isolated nation which nevertheless has contact with the outside world. with what minimal contact they have, i really doubt that they would keep up to date on current pop culture. what i’m trying to say here is that black panther uses outdated memes as worldbuilding.

actually black panther is set in 2016 (a week after civil war) so ‘what are those’ was actually 100% topical. shuri is an advanced memelord

also movie executives have no idea how long memes last for and thought itd still be funny and interesting

I’m lying here awake because I’m thinking about Shuri, throwing herself into her inventions and designing 2 new Panther suits in a week because the old one couldn’t be worn under a western-style suit and if her father had been wearing the Black Panther suit underneath he wouldn’t have…  the explosion wouldn’t have…

Shuri makes notes that the suit needs better ways to absorb impact.

Okay but what if Peter and Shuri are at the Avengers Compund and Peter asks Shuri if she wants to watch a movie with him in the screening room and she says yes. So they go in and Peter turns on Star Wars and half way through the movie he jokingly says how she should make real life SW tech. She tells him to pause the movie and she walks out of the room and comes back 10 minutes later and is like “I made these when I was 11!” And pulls out 2 functioning lightsabers and hands one to Peter, who is in shock and they start running around the compound fighting with lightsabers. T’Challa is annoyed because he told Shuri to leave them at home and Tony doesn’t know if he should be impressed bc Shuri made actual lightsabers or worried that two 16 year olds are running around using ACTUAL lightsabers.

Tony: hey what do you have there
