A couple years ago, my mother (who is white) was watching from her window and saw a strange young black man in her driveway. He was crouching down beside her car as if hiding behind it. She didn’t call the police. She just kept an eye on him and waited. After about a minute of coaxing, he pulled a puppy out from under her car, gently tucked the puppy under his arm and walked away while lightly scolding it.
I’m not telling this story because my mom deserves a prize or anything, but to try to relate how terrifying a simple everyday activity can be. If my mother hadn’t been the person she was—and he had no way of knowing that—rescuing a lost wandering puppy could have easily gotten that man killed.

Yeah, I’ve been getting some of that from my own advisor, who keeps complaining about how professors can’t have meetings with their students with the office door closed and he’s not allowed to make any remarks about female colleagues’ appearance, even if it’s just that they look professional. One of these days I need to tell him that it’s fine to make a comment on a woman’s appearance if and only if he would make the exact same comment to a man and no one would find it odd or “gay.”

YET ANOTHER white male, Right-Wing, “Christian” conservative, homophobic, domestic terrorist attack in America……but for *some* reason law enforcement and the FBI remains focused on spying on “Black Identity Extremists” (aka Black Lives Matter activists or any notable black person saying, “Dear police, please stop killing us”)
The police won’t hesitate to go COINTELPRO on Black people in the blink of an eye, but dozens and dozens of people can drop a dime on someone like the Parkland shooter and law enforcement will say there’s not enough evidence to justify taking a closer look at a white man who PUBLICLY made multiple credible threats about going on a killing spree.
hey so denmark is most definitely becoming a nazi nation sooner rather than later. they’ve like done some really fucked up shit, but this might be one of the more messed up things i’ve come across from there.
the government is going to have outlined “ghetto zones” in a legal definition, wherein which they are going to have double punishment for any crime.
these areas will be areas with high populations of muslim, immigrant and worker class people. meaning they are planning to give double the amount of punishment to people for living in poorer neighbourhoods with large amount of minority people.
this is a very transparent act. and they are trying to justify it by claiming it’s about maintaining the safety and peace of the country.
but what it really means is… they are not even trying to hide that the police and prison system is about targeting minorities and poor people now… and it will not surprise me if they use this to escalate the en-masse detainments they’ve had.
