One more MCU movie to watch so I can finish my pre-IW ranking. Fortunately, Civil War is on Netflix, so I don’t have to deal with any more crappy illegal videos.

Why is Steve being such an arrogant prick?

Oh hey, that’s the “Pie Jesu” from Fauré’s Requiem that the little boys in the ruffly robes are singing at Peggy’s funeral.

Why are there police in Bucharest speaking German with “Polizei” on their vests?

I just completely ignored a whole action sequence to scroll through Tumblr on my phone. I don’t feel like I missed anything important. That might say more about me than it does about the movie.

Yeah, actually, it is kind of a problem if Pepper only wants to be with Tony if he gives up being Iron Man. It’s too big a part of him.

I thought they were going to do something with the thing about Tony’s left arm going numb… but then they didn’t. Does he have heart problems? Are they ever going address that again?

Does Wanda’s costume really need to have that much cleavage?

Something I forgot to comment on w.r.t. “Ant-Man”: those throwing discs that change the size of objects… how do they know when to stop? Object boundaries aren’t actually that sharp, physically speaking.

I think this is supposed to seem tragically inevitable, but it all just kind of strikes me as ridiculous.

If Ant-Man is really strong when he’s tiny because he’s so dense, shouldn’t he be relatively weak when he’s big?

“Are you incapable of letting go of your ego for one goddamn second?”, Natasha asks Tony. That’s rich. I think the screenwriters had no fucking clue what they were writing… and that doesn’t give me a lot of hope for “Infinity War.”

I still don’t think Tony’s reaction makes any sense, even emotionally. He knew Bucky was brainwashed. He would and should have been furious at Steve, but would his first response really have been extreme physical violence? Again, I think the screenwriters didn’t know what they were doing.

I’m not the first one to point out that Steve just left Tony in Siberia with no power in his suit and, as far as he knew, no way to get out. Guess I’d better chalk that up to screenwriter incompetence, too.

Two days until I see “Infinity War,” two more MCU movies to rewatch so I can complete my personal pre-IW ranking. Does anyone else care? Possibly not, but it’s something I set out to do and now I’m feeling a strange compulsion about it.

That is why I am now rewatching “Ant-Man.” It’s probably the least stressful Marvel movie.

I appreciate the Bay Area location shots… but I’m sure none of the characters can afford to live where they’re supposed to be living.

Hey, I caught that little shout-out to “Tales to Astonish.”

Holy shit, Darren Cross just turned a guy into a blob of fleshy goo. That’s really dark. This movie was supposed to be the non-stressful one…

I’m pretty sure individual ants aren’t smart enough to be instructed the way Hank Pym et al. supposedly do.

If the suit works by shrinking the distance *between* atoms, how could someone “go subatomic”? Or does it also shrink the distance between the subatomic particles of your atoms?

I appreciate the humor in Luis whistling “It’s a Small World After All” while posing as a security guard.

“This is not who you are, it’s the particles altering your brain chemistry”? How is that supposed to work? Is that why Pym won’t use the suit anymore? And why is Scott not going nuts?

Omg, I just realized why it’s so funny that the horn on Luis’s van plays “La Cucaracha.”

It’s so bizarre how this movie includes things as grim as a guy being turned into fleshy goo and people shrinking into subatomic oblivion but also a final battle involving a giant Thomas the Tank Engine.
