Loki tried to rule asgard and accidentaly caused the ragnarok, he REALIZES THAT and then try to fix his mistake, taking the norns STONES and EXPLODING HIMSELF IN THE ENEMY (he did it also because he was becoming predctable and losing his own identity, just as thor say to him in the movie).
