On top of all the bullshit reasons for what happened in the first ten minutes of IW the Russos are saying Tom is getting too old to play Loki?

Tom Hiddleston is getting TOO OLD to play Loki?

Thor

The Avengers

Thor: The Dark World

Thor: Ragnarok

Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers 4 (on set filming)

Yeah…there is a HUGE difference in his looks thanks to his age *rolls eyes* Fucking idiots. Killing off a beloved character and a huge fan favorite not only for stupid reasons that reduce his character to a mere shadow behind Thor but because Tom is getting “too old” is idiotic. I feel awful for Tom Hiddleston because that is insulting. On top of that they even mention how it upset Tom to find out what happened to Loki (a character he genuinely loves).

All of the actors are aging and their ages quite often don’t match up with their characters. I’m not saying that because I want those characters to get killed off but I’m pointing out the ridiculousness of that statement. Why not just admit you didn’t know what to do with the character in IW and decided to take an easy out by sacrificing him and then milking the fan’s love of the character/actor during promotions? Loki didn’t need to die and he certainly didn’t need to die like that. A story doesn’t come full circle only when the character has been brutally murdered and that character certainly shouldn’t be killed as some kind of twisted motivation for Thor. Death isn’t the only motivation. It’s a cheap, easy motivation and Loki’s character deserves more.

This better be a bunch of bullshit to throw everyone off of Avengers 4 and not the actual truth. Also, because I can, someone started a petition for Loki. Fans managed to bring him back in Thor: The Dark World…why not again?

T H I S

I am counting on those leaked pics from A4 as actually being in the film. And if they go back in time to the first Avengers to unwind what Thanos did then they can DAMN WELL unwind Loki’s ‘death’ as well. He’s a god, for fuck’s sake.

Except they won’t undo Loki’s death because they want him to stay dead. They’ll taunt his fans with this little flashback, maybe allow us to hope they’ll actually give him a meaningful role in the next movie so that maybe we’ll buy movie tickets, and then yank it away again because we’re not the fans they’re looking for. If Thor wonders why they can’t turn time back far enough to save Loki, Heimdall, and half of Asgard, Doctor Strange or Hank Pym or Captain Marvel or someone will say something cryptic about how they can only defeat Thanos if those people stay dead, or how it would be disastrous to cause too much disruption to the fabric of spacetime, or some similar bullshit. But it’s just as likely that Thor won’t ask. They wanted to fridge Loki and Heimdall to give Thor the proper “motivation,” to have him appropriately desperate and desolate, but they probably won’t even think to have him try to save the people he lost.

The age thing was just a flimsy excuse. They were filming IW and A4 concurrently, so Hiddleston wouldn’t be any older if they left him alive in the latter. No one was saying that he had to keep appearing in MCU movies forever, but killing a character violently isn’t the only way to take them out of future films. They just don’t care about giving a plausible or satisfying end to his character arc.

Interviewer: Of all the Avengers, who would you kiss, marry, and kill?

Karen Gillian: Aaahhh! Okay, this is my new favourite question! I’m gonna kiss…. Nebula is gonna kiss… Nebula’s gonna kiss Loki.

Interviewer: Oooh! Why?

Karen Gillian: Because they’re gonna have this connection, because they are both the overlooked sibling. And they’re gonna really connect with each other and then they’re just gonna have a little smooch.

(I don’t even ship Loki and Nebula, but I love how everyone agrees they’d get along well!)

“There’s nothing else left for Loki to do in the MCU! His story’s over!”

Well, personally I’ve barely seen any of the things I’ve wanted Loki to do so far, so here’s a list. Things that Loki should still do / that should still happen to Loki in the MCU:

– Loki having an actual deep conversation with Thor about why he’s angry and what went wrong in their relationship. Thor actually apologizing for treating Loki badly when they were younger. Thor and Loki hugging. (You know, kind of like the talk Gamora and Nebula got to have at the end of GotG2.)

– Other characters actually acknowledging that Odin wronged Loki and that (even though he went about it all wrong) Loki had a right to be upset. Thor acknowledging that Loki’s slights were not “imagined”.

– Loki meeting the Avengers again, becoming the snarky “villain-turned-ally” character (think Zuko from AtlA), and fighting alongside them

– Loki coming to terms with his Jotun heritage. We got a bit of this in Infinity War, but I wanted so much more, like:

– Loki changing into his Jotun form – and finding out what exactly Odin did to make him look Aesir in the first place

– Loki using his ice powers (and Tony wasting no time to nickname him ‘Elsa’ or ‘Jack Frost’)

– Loki travelling to Jotunheim to find out more about his birth culture. Meeting his biological siblings (and Thor getting jealous about it). Getting to hear the other side of the story of the war. Finding out how much of the story Odin told Loki about finding him abandoned as a baby is actually true and how much Odin invented to make himself look better. Dealing with any feelings of guilt Loki might have about killing Laufey and trying to destroy Jotunheim.

– Loki meeting the GotG and just getting to interact with them

– Loki and Gamora bonding over their similar backstories (I’ll make a whole other post about this at some point…)

– Loki and Nebula becoming snarky BFFs who bond over their pain and play pranks on their siblings together

– Mantis describing Loki’s own feelings of self-loathing to him

– Loki’s bisexuality/non-straightness actually being adressed (for example through him admitting he had an affair with the Grandmaster?)

– Loki coming out as genderfluid and shape-shifting into Lady Loki (played by Katie McGrath or Eva Green)

– Loki and Thor travelling to Heven and finding their long-lost sister Angela

– Loki living on Earth and becoming BFFs with Verity Willis

– For some reason I really want to see Loki running a night club on Earth

Feel free to add to the list

The thing is… I think a lot of the people saying Loki doesn’t have anything left to do or his story is over simply don’t recognize that Loki had any good reasons for being angry and upset, that the slights against him weren’t imagined, that Thor ever treated Loki badly or bore any responsibility for the poor state of their relationship. They seem to think (like Taika Waititi, apparently) that Loki was just being an asshole for no reason and that the only thing Thor was doing wrong or needed to change was continuing to reach out to Loki and offer him his love and trust.

Quite a few people seem to think my drawings are photo manipulations. I feel honored in a way. In another way it feels a bit like back in school when I was disqualified from a drawing contest, because they didn’t believe that I made the drawing.

I would like to promote my tutorial video (link) a bit – even though I’m not sure how useful it is, since I had to redo hours of work in 16 minutes. Turn off the sound if my accent gets too annoying. 😉

What are you even talking about? Respect? All i see in the fandom is twink this and twink that? Who respecks him anymore? He had to be killed.

Maybe you need to update the list of the blogs that you’re following and see that not everyone disrespect Loki. for example: @lokiloveforever @lasimo74allmyworld @shine-of-asgard @yume-no-fantasy @whitedaydream @philosopherking1887 @foundlingmother and there are many others. You can check the posts I reblog from others.

Many of Loki fans are the ones who identify with him exactly because they were disrespected, mocked, left alone, rejected and never been understood. For many of us what we feel about Loki is very real, it’s like what we would feel for a real person. Is it alright to reject and erase someone if they are being disrespected and belittled by others? Is it ok to disrespect them more? Surely not. We should stand up for them and defend them, no matter what. And frankly I don’t give a damn if the whole fandom disrespect Loki or see him differently or generally disagree with me. This is my opinion and I stand by it. So let’s agree to disagree.

I strongly suspect that Anon has been following the blogs of people who accepted the characterization of Loki in Thor: Ragnarok and seem to think, mysteriously, that his presentation in previous MCU films was some kind of “mischaracterization.” (Relative to what, I’m not sure – Norse myths? Comics? Which comics?) In response to @foundlingmother‘s comment: there need not be anything inherently disrespectful in calling Loki a twink, but much of what I’ve seen in the Thor/Loki fandom and adjacent subcommunities is people reducing Loki to “the Grandmaster’s trophy twink” or “a day-drinking bottom,” saying that’s all he ever was and that the depth and complexity that fans and/or Tom Hiddleston had previously attributed to him was somehow an illusion.

The fact that Anon thinks no one in the MCU or Thor franchise fandom respects Loki anymore indicates that to a great extent, Thor: Ragnarok achieved what it and those responsible for it (Taika Waititi, Chris Hemsworth, screenwriter Eric Pearson) set out to achieve: it reduced Loki in the minds of (casual) fans to a figure of ridicule, subservient to Thor and of no emotional or psychological interest in his own right.

Many of the people who hate what Ragnarok did to Loki – and to Thor! – have been silent because there seemed to be no place for them in the Thorki fandom or the mainstream MCU fandom, so it would not be difficult to get the impression that everyone simply accepts Ragnarok’s retcon of Loki’s character.

Given the way his character was reduced in TR, I can see why it might seem that he needed to be killed – that he had no more character development left in him and the only worthwhile thing he could do was to die for Thor. It has even occurred to me that I’d rather see Loki die than let Hemsworth and Waititi get their hands on him again – though I’d certainly rather that he died well, which he did in TDW but not in IW (his death was incredibly stupid and eminently avoidable).

Would you guys rather Loki died a hero, or lived as a villain? I can’t decide.

It’s so fucking hard to choose!!

Live as a villain! (we know he’s really not, but he does what he wants!)

Loki is not a villain, nor he is a hero. He is both, he is neither, he is Loki.

So to answer the question:

Neither! I’d rather he had a chance to shine as who he is: Loki, god of mischief instead of being dismissed as a plot device.
