Fine. I guess I’ll just have to go it alone. Like I’ve always done.
I’ve talked about Loki’s response before, but I like this part too because in the first gif, Loki looks like he’s about to be like, “Now wait a minute, that’s totally not what happened,” but by the third gif, his face is more of a resigned, “You’re not going to believe me anyway, so why would I try to defend myself?”
Poor Loki. 😦
I think Tom Hiddleston included more of Loki’s POV and emotional depth in his facial expressions than were in the script.
STOP KILLING LOKI. JUST FUCKING STOP. HIM LIVING WOULD BE REFRESHING AT THIS POINT, MARVEL.
Or you know… another character acknowledging Loki’s pain. Or another character acknowledging that Loki has a reason for doing anything he’s ever done, other than him just being evil. Or another character just liking Loki for who he is. Or Thor acknowledging how shitty it must have been for Loki to find out he was adopted. Or Thor even acknowledging that Loki was lied to his entire life. Or Thor admitting to ever being a less than perfect brother.
But at this point, I would settle for Loki not being dead.
Tbh, I’m thinking he should’ve stayed dead in The Dark World, because it’s all been downhill from there.
Like goddamn I really made myself upset thinking about how the entire trajectory of Loki’s arc could have been altered if Odin and Frigga had been slightly more comfortable expressing verbal and physical affection? As in, expressing it at all?

AND ANOTHER THING.
God just. Look at how blank his face is. How he’s hiding all the fear and turmoil and anger he unleashed on Odin. He doesn’t trust her anymore, after such a huge betrayal. How can he? But he’s also probably afraid of pushing her away by being angry at her, so he just shoves it all down. What the fuck kind of damage does it do to be betrayed by someone so close to you, but they’re still basically the entirety of your emotional support system? Ugh still crying about Thor 2k18.
This clip. Is one of my favorite Loki moments of all time.
Because as crazy as he’s gone since, we have to remember that Loki used to be the sane one. Like, the only sane guy in the room. Even at his schemiest (totes a word, shut up) and most mischievous, he was the smart one, the quiet one, the one who just really wished Thor would NOT.
And you know what they say about the quiet ones, when they finally do snap…
Never forget facepalming Loki. He’s still in there, somewhere. We hope.
