Iāve reblogged some salty commentary, but I donāt think Iāve given a straightforward statement of my view. So here it is: Iām not getting my hopes up. After Ragnarok and Infinity War, I donāt trust any of the schmucks at Marvel as far as I can throw them, and Iām tiny with a terrible arm. I trust Tom to try not to let it get fucked up, but thereās only so much he can do. (I donāt think he was happy with what was done to his character in TR and IW, but obviously he had limited power to advocate for himself and for Loki.)
I am VERY cynical about Disneyās motivations for doing this. Starting a separate streaming service so people need to pay for something else on top of Netflix and Hulu and Amazon Prime and whatever else theyāre already paying for is incredibly obnoxious, and theyāre using Lokiās popularity to rope in a guaranteed audience. In the movies, they catered to the fanboy hatred of Loki (surely motivated by dismayed resentment over how many women find Loki more attractive than the standard male power fantasies); but theyāre more than happy to keep taking our money in a new medium.
Will I buy the streaming service? I donāt know yet. Iāll see what else is on it. Iām also waiting to see what happens with Loki in Avengers 4. Iām not above pirating things. I still havenāt watched Ant-Man and the Wasp, and when I do, it will be either on a service Iām already paying for or illegally.
I love seeing salty THORturer fansās asses got roasted by reality.Ā
Producer: āMr. Hemsworth, you have the choice between guest starring in the new Lowki series or chewing broken glass.ā Hemsworth: āMay I have some sriracha and a spoon for my glass shards?ā
lackeyās mini series has been confirmed. disney loves to beat a dead horse and squeeze a dead fandom dry. a lot of people want hems to gueststar. I can not tell you how much I hate that idea. I donāt think hems enjoys working with him and if there is another thor movie iād like it lackey-free.
Iām glad that 90% of possibility is that Chris HemsĀ will not appear on the show otherwise the story will be instantly ruined by his unconvincing and half-assesĀ āactingā.Ā
Also, did those Thorturer fans really just putting Chris Hems on the āsame levelā with RDJ and Chris Evans?? Thatās extremely disgraceful for classy actors like them.Ā
On a side note, I hope that this shows prove that Loki can exist perfectly fine without being involved in toxic relationship with his self-centered brother. I want Loki to find love/happiness outside of his shitty, toxic, and abusive family, and that means stay away as far as possible from his family especially his witless oaf brother who always made his life worse by abusing his identity repeatedly until Loki had to submitted to their toxic relationship like in the first place, again, instead of getting away from it.Ā
Wow! Seems like the confirmation of a Loki TV show really hit a nerve with some Loki haters. And I have to say I agree with some of their points @seiramili7 ! I donāt think CH enjoys working with TH anymore since Tomās performance overshadows his acting. I love the idea of a real reconciliation for Thor and Loki(you know I loved Thor before TR) but if TR Thor is the characterization weāre going to get from Thor, I donāt want him to guest star either and I donāt want Loki in another Thor movie. Because Loki needs to accept and love himself and he wonāt have real happiness if he goes back to be Thorās shadow.
It honestly makes me laugh that these people are calling Lokiās fandom a ādead fandomā when all the social medias were taken over yesterday by Lokiās Army only with just a news about Loki and a tweet from Tom. This fandom never dies. We literally showed that even if Loki dies in canon we are still here. We still make content and metas and people started petitions for Loki to come back alive. This popularity must be a burn to them that theyāre calling Loki, ālackeyā. We have TR to thank, for giving Loki haters a derogatory term to use. And you know it is already proven that Loki can exist without Thor since a lot of his scenes donāt involve Thor and Loki has enough depth to be the lead character of a story.
Ohhh⦠How do I love some Schadenfreude with my breakfastā¦
Apparently even Hemsworth’s fans think he’s an asshole. Only they don’t seem to realize that being a jerk to/about your colleagues is a bad thing. That says a lot about both them and him.
Like @lucianalight, I’d be happy for Loki to continue having a relationship with Thor. Their relationship was the heart of the first two “Thor” movies and one of the emotional centers of gravity in “The Avengers.” But since CH and TW killed Thor and replaced him with the impostor I call Thor*, I definitely want Thor*, CH, and TW to stay the hell away from Loki. Fuck, I’d be happy if they recast Thor. Luke Hemsworth isn’t a terrible actor, and maybe he could be persuaded to atone for that gross cameo in TR. Or Charlie Hunnam, he looks about right.
And i think he might have already known about this ācause that could be the reason he and Elizabeth Olsen were chosen to be at the Comic Con.
My number one meeting Tom Hiddleston fantasy is that we become platonic best friends forever and just have dates all the time where we drink tea and talk Shakespeare and Loki meta for hours, and my second one is that I have the opportunity to ask him each and every single question on my list, but my third one is to go to an event like this and have the confidence to sidle up to him when itās my turn for a picture or whatever and be like,Ā āI will slip $50 in your pocket right now if you just confirm or deny that Loki is alive, no bs, and I wonāt tell a soul,ā and I really wouldnāt, but even if he didnāt tell me, I bet the look on his face would be priceless.Ā
(I am joking, I wouldnāt actually do this. The first two fantasies are true though.)Ā
If the Loki tv show is real and happening I hope they make him use his magic for fighting and defense. It seems like in the films, they slowly forgot he had magic and made him only use knives. I liked how he was in the first movie, you get to see how all the stuff he can do.
I want to see Lokisā eyes turn green with his magic.
Thank you for this! It seems to be, at this point, a little nugget released with the intent of whipping Loki fans into a frenzy (which they have accomplished, positive or negative frenzy aside). I will give Marvel this, they know how to market. At this point, we are way beyond IW speculation and gossip, way beyond the IW DVD release follow-up gossip, yet still months away from A4. They need to keep people talking about the Avengers and about Loki, and so here we are.Ā
What I find interesting, though, is that a lot of mainstream media hopped on it, and even Josh Horowitz (who is pretty good friends with Tom Hiddleston, or so I assume based on their interactions) tweeted a reaction. So itās like, well, itās probably just speculation at this point, but valid sources are like,Ā āIdk seems legit?ā and that does very little to dampen peopleās hopes.Ā
Either way, ultimately I want a Loki TV show very much, but I only want it if itās going to be done right – by which, I mean no Taika Waititi-esque nonsense. I like a humorous Loki, but an appropriately humorous Loki, layered with his complexity and tragic history. (Itās worth mentioning I doubt very much TW himself would actually be involved – heās CHās buddy and made no secret of his dislike for Loki – but that doesnāt mean other directors wonāt want to take a page from his book.)Ā
Honestly, the best case scenario would be Joss and/or Jed Whedon being involved, the former who gave us a ton of Loki depth (even if Loki was banana balls for most of A1), and the latter who does excellent work on Agents of SHIELD, not to mention all of their experience with TV writing. They capture humor and depth very, very well. But Joss just had another show picked up for HBO, I think, and even so, apparently he seems to be Persona Non Grata at Marvel, for whatever reason. Oh, but wouldnāt it be SO AWESOME if the TV show took place in that year between Thor 1 and Avengers, with Joss Whedon at the helm, to show us exactly what Loki went through? This could be done without involvement from Hemsworth, Hopkins, etc, would tie nicely into the MCU, and would just ā¦. well. ShutUpAndTakeMyMoney.gif.Ā
Hey, I can dream.Ā
Thank you for the ask! Sorry for rambling at you in reply. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
I think the reason Joss is persona non grata at Marvel – and heās none too fond of them either – is that he resented all their meddling in AOU. For me, that makes it seem deeply ironic that they just let Taika do whatever the fuck he wanted with Thor: Ragnarok. Like… dudes. Joss is an expert sci-fi/fantasy storyteller. He knows how to tie deep philosophical themes and compelling character development into an exciting narrative. He cares about these characters, the Asgardian ones as well as the human ones. None of those things are true of Taika. Joss is the one they should have left to do his thing; they should have pulled in the reins on the reckless bowdlerization of three of their central characters (Bruce as well as Thor and Loki).
You and I have the same wish list, it sounds like. (Though on some level I donāt want them to tell us exactly what happened during Lokiās lost year because I donāt want my fic to be rendered obsolete…)
