Loki: “I’m here.” (NOW GIVE US A FREAKING HUG MARVEL!!!!!!)
We never got definitive proof that Loki was ‘outed’ as Jotun after he fell from the Bifrost and if the news spread of his heritage at his trial in The Dark World, so what I find incredibly interesting about Loki in Ragnarok is what we see from his super meta/fanfic play that he has outed himself as being Jotun by birth. Since he wasn’t ‘Loki’ when this news was put out there I really want to know what the general reaction to it was. The public was given the news by ‘Odin’, so did they even oppose the news because it was coming from their king? Were things said or whispered about how Loki, the fallen prince who gave his life for Asgard, was really a mongrel or not worthy of being royalty? Or did they even bat an eye at the news?
But when you think of it it really was clever timing on his part because he literally is Odin so he could ultimately control the narrative on how the info was released and the general reaction to it. He, as Odin, could word it in ways that would make the populace feel sympathy for him, build him up more highly in their minds that their prince wasn’t of their blood. If any fallout or negative shit went down afterwards then Loki could shut that shit down at a moments notice. Loki is in the driver’s seat in this situation and I think that is brilliant. He found out on pure accident of his Jotun birth, he had no control over how that happened and the resulting conversation with Odin after he confronted him about it. Now he could spin his to his advantage and use the information to make the Asgard’s citizens love and admire him even more in death than he was in life. It also could give Odin better PR points and make the job easier for Loki in the long run because it would endear the populace towards Odin and Frigga for taking in an unwanted child that was left to die.
So yeah that sneaky motherfucker used the info that caused him so much angst and heartache to his advantage, making people love him more because of it.
