Hats occupy a significant place in the history of Korean fashion. During the Joseon period, men were expected to cover their heads during the day. Different hats were worn according to the occasion and one’s social rank. This type of cap, with its multiple peaks that resemble a mountain range, was worn indoors by scholars. The design accommodates the sangtu, a topknot of hair worn by married men. It is far lighter and more comfortable than the wide-brimmed hats worn by noblemen in public. It is made of horsehair that has been soaked, brushed, and woven around a framework of bamboo.

Loki: One for the @Bookhunter. Second in a series inspired by fanfic writers. This one is dedicated to the superb writings of the bookhunter, especially One for Sorrow. I hope this isn’t too presumptuous of me.
