
“Plait,” as somebody kindly pointed out, is what you would call a braid when worn by a warrior.
Not really… the only difference is that plait came into English through French while braid is the Germanic version that came down the normal way from Old English. So that just kind of means that “plait” sounds fancier, perhaps more aristocratic, while “braid” is the everyday term.
Thor’s braid/plait is still hot. Extra hot if that’s really Loki’s hair braided/plaited into it after Loki’s apparent death.
