the current situation of the marvel fandom and russo brothers about infinity war:
Iâm going to continue to blame Markus and McFeely, the screenwriters, because theyâre the ones who had the idea to make Thanos the âprotagonistâ of the film… though apparently it was Feigeâs idea, not theirs, to end Infinity War with Thanos succeeding in his quest.
My current theory for Avengers 4 and Dr. Strangeâs plan has come down to the following points you need to pay attention to.
1. Gamoraâs soul is bound to the soul stone.
She was bound because she was sacrificed in exchange for the stone.
2. After The Snap, Thanos found himself at a quiet, orange colored, watery place, where he briefly speaks to Gamora as a child. This place was inside the soul stone, and it was Gamoraâs soul. Note that the color fits.
3. Everyone who became dust and Gamoraâs soul can be saved. Other manual deaths may be permanent.
4. Dr. Strange has seen the one possible future where the heroes succeed. Strange is planning to set up everything so that this timeline occurs.
5. Likely on Titan, Dr. Strange travels into the past via the Time Gem and recruits Heimdall, The Hulk and possibly Loki.
6a. The Hulk is crucial for the victory timeline, and he must do something at the right moment. For this reason, Heimdall sacrificed himself to send Hulk back to Earth, and Hulk refuses to show himself until the time is right. If Loki was recruited as well, his job was to ensure Thorâs survival, because he is crucial for the victory timeline.
6b. Note that Dr. Strange had Heimdall send Hulk to himself on Earth, so Strange knew beforehand that someone had sent Hulk, and he may have realized later that it was himself. This is how he knew what to do.
7. Dr. Strange sacrifices the Time Gem at to correct moment to save Tony, because Tony is required for the victory timeline, saying to Tony: âIt was the only way.â
8. Furthering point 7, all the major technicians (Rocket, Tony, Bruce, Shuri) are still around. They may be required to combine their brilliance in order to beat Thanos.
9. For each infinity stone, a character sacrificed themselves or someone they loved, at least attempting to do so. These sacrifices usually happened in the presence of a particular stone. It may be that these sacrifices make different characters the real masters of the stones.
Power Gem: Groot sacrifices himself out of love (Guardians vol. 1) Space Gem: Loki for Thor Reality Gem: Quill -> Gamora (attempted in presence of the gem) Soul Gem: Gamora -> herself (for Nebula, but not in presence of the gem) Mind Gem: Wanda -> Vision Time Gem: Strange -> unclear at this point (maybe himself & his duty)
Even with Dr. Strangeâs sacrifice being unclear and Gamora not being in the presence of the soul gem, all of this is a pattern, and pattern implies purpose. This leads me to consider that these characters, when working together, have full control over all the stones, and the stones may refuse Thanos even if he wields them.
This theory is great because it explains why Heimdall sent Hulk to Earth instead of Thor, which didnât make any sense to me. And also gives significance to Lokiâs line âThe sun will shine on us again.â Which is strange because how can Loki be so optimistic? Well, maybe because he is following Strangeâs plan.
It would be great if the movie actually made this much sense… but often I think the fans put in more thought than the screenwriters do.
We as a community need to recognize that as far as story writing goes, Infinity Wars was bad
Loki, trickster god, dying because his âsneaky machinationâ was literally just a frontal stabbity assault on a guy with two Infinity Stones? Bad. Valkyrie just straight up not existing? Bad. Gamora being tortured and abused by Thanos her whole life, only to be killed at her abuserâs hands because he âreally loved herâ in order to give her abuser â’complexityââ? EXCEEDINGLY BAD. Said âloveâ and âgriefâ being the reason the closest attempt at stopping him fails? Salt on the wound, super fucking bad. Wanda letting Wakandan soldiers give their lives to stall and risking the fate of Wakanda as a whole and trillions of other lives across the universe because she doesnât want to POSSIBLY kill her Mark Hatsune boyfriend? HIGH TIER IMMERSION-BREAKING BAD. Thanos just, in general, having years to formulate a plot and deciding that killing off half the universe was what was going to save it instead of using infinite power to provide resources or stability that he was worrying about or just really doing anything else with THE POWER TO REMAKE THE UNIVERSE that wasnât absolutely moronic because of different repopulation rates in species and the fact that a randomized 50% kill snap could end up destroying people who want to help maintain the universe and letting those who want to actually harm and harvest it flourish and just, like, it was so stupid there was absolutely no reason that his choice stands up to his under any amount of rational thought and it was just done to make their villain seem Deep and now has allowed reddit eugenicists to crawl out of the woodworks in support of this moronic choice? Really. Fucking. Bad.
Infinity Wars had some good humor but God damn the story writing was so fucking bad and we need to admit that

This! It wasnât just lazy; it was bad. You canât cover up a poor story with flashy action and think people wonât notice.
I never expected any of my favorites getting much screen time but I thought the movie itself was going to be epic. It wasnât.
Thanos idea of halving the population doesnât hold water so he would either be delusional or plain stupid to think it would work but the movie doesnât give an answer to which. It doesnât explore his psychology at all, despite the claim that itâs âhisâ movie. And relatable? To whom? There is nothing there. Just the same, flat, old villain all over again.
Next time, try putting some thought into it.
Even if you ignore the content issues, this movie has glaring technical issues. The pacing is off, there are too many characters and too much time wasted on jokes that arenât even fucking funny, it suffers from tonal whiplash, it plays out like a logic puzzle (âwe need x character in y location because z, so letâs come up with a contrived reason theyâre thereâ).Â
And the most obvious fault? This movie doesnât have a plot. Summarize it! I challenge you to do so. Itâs contrived battle after battle with no heart, energy, or thought put into it. A checklist of destruction, death, and lost potential.Â
