honestly the only way he’s handing over the real tesseract here is if Thor is under threat of imminent death.
True dat.
They have not given us the shot of Thanos palming Thor’s head like a gd basketball that we saw at D23 and SDCC this year. It was so clearly the same scene that I’m sure this is what Loki is doing. Probably with Thor doing quality ‘LOKI, NOooooooOOoOOOO’s
Oh shiiiittttt you’re breaking my heart already and I haven’t even seen the damn movie.
I see a lot of people talking about Thanos, but let’s not forget he has a pretty nasty group at his disposal and I’m honestly more worried about them than I am about Thanos. So, In case anyone wanted a little bit of information on them, I don’t have much, but here’s a lil bit about the Children of Thanos.
Corvus Glaive – Thanos’ most favored general who has enhanced strength, speed, durability, and endurance and uses a bladed pike which can cut through anything. When Corvus Glaive has the bladed pike in his hand, it makes him immortal.
Proxima Midnight – A member of the Black Order and the wife of Corvus Glaive who is a master hand-to-hand combatant, has super-strength and is nigh impervious. Her lance transforms into unavoidable toxic light beams.
Ebony Maw – A member of the Black Order who has genius-level intellect, specializes in persuasion. A manipulator and psychic attacker.
Utilizes a teleportation device and force field generator.
Black Dwarf – A member of the Black Order who has super-strength, enhanced density, and impenetrable skin. He is the brother of Corvus Glaive.
When I think about Loki being tortured before the Avengers, I don’t think about Thanos doing it himself, I think of the Black Order, noteably Ebony Maw. Something to gnash your teeth on.
Oh wait, are those Thor’s harem pants in the second gif? I couldn’t tell who that was. And is he stepping over dead Asgardians…? Escaping from Hela only to run into Thanos is a real ‘out of the frying pan, into the fire’ kind of situation…
I honestly have never been so excited for something in my whole life // Will Loki side with Thanos? Who has died in Tony’s arms? What will happen between Wanda and vision?
1. I very much doubt it; I think he’s acting under duress. 2. It’s possible that no one died; someone could just be gravely injured. (Steve??? my little shipper’s heart goes pit-a-pat.) 3. I don’t know, but it looks like sexytimes to me.
A couple more questions to add to the mix: 4. Why isn’t Vision purple in that one scene with Wanda? Is that some kind of dream sequence where he’s fantasizing about being a real boy? 5. OH NO THANOS IS TAKING THE MIND STONE OUT OF VISION’S HEAD IS HE GOING TO DIE?!?!
Haha, thanks! (For those who are wondering, the first sentence is referring to this post about the parallels between Thor/Loki and Steve/Tony.)
In terms of fic recs, the most useful thing I can do is point you to my bookmarks page on AO3 – it’s basically a very long rec list. It’s mostly Thorki fic, with the occasional Superhusbands (in case you’re still into that) and some gen Thor & Loki fic. I also write Thorki fic, as well as some gen fic about the brotherly relationship between Thor and Loki; I’m Philosopher_King on AO3. My works page is a bit of a mess, so here’s a direct link to my Thorki series in the correct reading order (which is not the order in which I wrote them).
I semi-seriously wonder if the reason we didn’t see Thor and Loki hug in Ragnarok is that Waititi and/or Feige was worried that the sexual tension would have been too obtrusive. Officially, they’re just brothers, and there’s nothing else going on between them, but it seems like no one gave Hiddleston & Hemsworth that memo…
My sense about Infinity War is that Loki will not go back to being a villain, because Ragnarok made such a point of his character development toward heroism. I’m not at all confident that Markus & McFeely (the writers) or the Russo brothers (the directors) really care about Thor or Loki as characters; they all started in the Captain America movies, and I think their hearts are with the human Avengers. I hope, though, that the success of Ragnarok, and their awareness of Loki’s fan base, will motivate them not to neglect his character arc. With Thanos as the Big Bad and the ambiguous connection between Loki and Thanos set up in The Avengers, there’s a real opportunity for interesting character moments (are we gonna give Loki PTSD, or does Tony have a monopoly on it?) and some juicy moral dilemmas. DON’T FUCK IT UP, MARVEL.
