so like, i realize this has probably already been said today, but in case not:

seeing thor be tortured like that just makes me think that loki was probably tortured like that too, u know? 😦

and it’s so upsetting for a variety of reasons. like obv, thor himself being tortured really just feels so, so wrong. seeing him so helpless and out-of-sorts being dragged by his skull… the way his eyes roll back in his head. i’m. just. -incoherent screaming- T_TĀ

and then (assuming it’s the same scene and not disjointed), seeing loki take in that visible breath while he watches it happen like i know exactly how that feels and i can’t do anything to help you

i’m. dead.

OK, @foundlingmother, @led-lite, @tara-noire – I think the staging here suggests that Loki will spend some time (pretending to be) working with Thanos. See how he’s standing with Thanos’s generals while Thanos threatens Thor and then breaks the cube to get the Space Stone out.

Maybe Loki will claim that he usurped the throne of Asgard so that he could recover the Tesseract for Thanos after he (shamefully) lost it by losing the battle for Midgard. Why Thanos would accept that excuse, I’m not sure… but banishing Odin and posing as him for 4 years is a pretty impressive trick.

@philosopherking1887 Except there’s a gun pointed at his head.

I think that’s to make sure he doesn’t try to do anything to help Thor. But yeah, it’s still possible they’ll shoot him just to make a statement. Sigh.

I’ve watched this piece countless times now. I’ve slowed it down. Sped it up. Paused it. Screengrabbed and expanded it and I still think what I thought on my first watch. My gut tells me that this isn’t Tony in the suit.

It isn’t just the body type (hips too narrow/gait of walk off/and man, that really does not look like Downey’s ass). It’s the left hand.Ā

By now Tony has been Iron Man for ten plus years. The raising of his hand to fire the repuslor is beyond automatic. It is bone deep. It is muscle memory. The armor is part of him. He literally does it in his sleep in IM3. There is no way that Tony Stark, the man who fought Thor, who took on two super soldiers at once without even a second thought is going to suddenly forget how to plant his feet and raise his hand. Tony Stark never backed down from a fight in his life. Even as they were torturing him in the cave he remained defiant and fought back.

Tony isn’t the only person on that planet Peter (parker) is up there with him.Ā

And if that is Tony in that shot, then Marvel threw character out the window and fucked up big time.Ā

But I honestly, truly think that isn’t Tony in that armor.

YEs, I thought the same thing. That little mannerism, the slight lifting of the hand to block, not attack, is so Peter Parker. I just… I can’t.Ā

And isn’t Peter hurt in the trailer, apologizing to Tony? Did Peter steal his suit for some reason?Ā

Like Patroclus donning Achilles armor and going to face Hektor-I also see PeterĀ  here, no way is that Tony moving his hand/arm like that, standing moving like that in the suit.

youareadistraction:

Guys…is he crying?

Maybe he’s trying to save the people of Asgard, bargaining perhaps?

😭

You know, it’s actually kind of hard to tell whether it’s tears or sweat on his lower eyelids. But considering the fact that Loki tends to get weepy in highly emotional situations – and Tom Hiddleston has admitted that tearing up is his natural response to extreme fear – I’m gonna go with tears.

princess-ellbel:

Im hoping that Toms makeup in the wig fitting video suggests that loki somewhat recovers from this scene in the Infinity Wars trailer and doesn’t die immediately after handing over the tesseract. There is hope!

I never would have noticed that… I’m glad someone was paying enough attention to makeup details to provide this (provisional) reassurance.

Also, how sexy is it that he’s going to be running around with a bruise on his cheek and a cut on his eyebrow? (OK, I have a problem.)

I’m not sure this is a shot of Loki. I don’t remember his pants being like this. Or that flap.

Agreed.

LOKI IS BEING FORCED.

BREAKING

FUCKING

NEWS.

Those pants match Ebony Maw, another general. Statues of them were shown at D23.

This is Maw. Note his pants.

Same pants.

Ebony Maw is the persuader of the team. A manipulator and psychic attacker. In the INFINITY event a few years ago that introduced the Generals, Maw was functionally the most dangerous, because he was manipulating a central Avenger, and none of them knew until nearly too late.

@maevecurrywrites @insanely-smart @silvertongued-shapeshifter

Yeah, I was going to mention that the trousers/boots didn’t look right. Loki wears leather.

Also, I’m so thrilled you know all this stuff @cenobitic-anchorite. Thank you for telling us all the various backstories.
