From the Thor script: here.
Can I just take a moment to thank Tom Hiddleston for his excellent acting choices and instinct for characterization and just general existence?
The script would have pushed Loki towards the cackling madman role at the end, gleeful over who knows what. And instead we got heartbreak, anger, desperation, and the god of eyes-always-overbrimming-with-tears.
WOW. Whoa. I think this might be my new favourite post ever.
you can tell just by the dialogue how it could have played. Sir Ken and Tom were like, nah. that’s been soooo overdone.
Sir Ken: We need to find a better, juicier, more interesting angle. How would Shakespeare do this?
Both (look at each other) in gleeful unison: GAY!
Tom (cracking knuckles, already producing tears): Do you want him Just Gay or Really Desperately Fucking Gay?
Sir Ken: (perusing the storyboard, featuring the mammoth Rainbow Road where the most dramatic moments of the film play out, including the final confrontation) Well, we did say Shakespearean.
Tom: say no more!
