I need to sedate my cat before I drive with her to Canada, so the vet prescribed some 50mg tabs of gabapentin and told me to test her out on 1 and then maybe on 2 to see how she handles it. I have now given her 1 (thank you, Greenies Pill Pockets) and I’m waiting for it to kick in. Wish us luck.
She’s very relaxed. I just trimmed all of the claws on one forepaw and she tried to pull it away but didn’t try to kill me.
My cat is now a limp noodle on my lap. She’s so sleepy it’s making me feel sleepy.
Kitty has perked up, but she’s still a little clumsy. It’s looking like the gabapentin wears off after about 6 hours. Not quite long enough for the drive… I might have to give her another dose partway through, or just put up with indignant yowling for the last stretch.
