Jane Foster has a mild manifestation of bipolar disorder type II; when she gets hypomanic, her obsession with science becomes hyperfocused to the point of recklessness (driving into a storm, breaking into a SHIELD facility, jumping through a wormhole, etc.), but when her depression sets in, she’s barely functional. She’s been very good at hiding this from her colleagues due to the stigma around it.
