@everyone who reads a multichapter fic and comments on each individual chapter (rather than commenting just once at the end) so the author can see you read through to individual events with changing thoughts and reactions: i would kill a man for you.

What is the writers’ perspectives on works that are years old. Are comments chapter by chapter still appreciated?
YES! Any comments at all are good. I wouldn’t care if you just left a check mark to let me know someone was there and didn’t hate it. Thumbs up works too. It doesn’t matter if the work has been sitting there getting dusty for 11 years. In fact that’s even better. Getting acknowledgement that something still matters and is valid after time is awesome.
I kind of don’t understand writers who stop replying to comments on older fics. I guess they must be so popular and prolific that they don’t get email notifications of comments anymore, and just check the comments on new fics? I am not one of those writers. I will (eventually) reply to all comments that aren’t flat-out rude.
