I really respect him for politely declining.
Tom has been the go-to for silliness for so long, and while it is – of course – fun to watch, it has now been done so many times. He’s not that eager young pup with something to prove any more, and this simply seems like a clear message that he and his management team have made a conscious decision to draw a line under playing the fool for the sake of it. (He also politely declined to dance on the Asian leg of KSI last year. As he said at that time: ‘it’s all available on YouTube’). I’m sure people will have their own opinions on this, but for me it doesn’t mean he’s turned into an old grouch. Just look at the recent press tour for confirmation of that. He’s just saying, ‘it’s been done. Let’s move on’.
