Whatever you do, do not imagine Loki having all his fears and insecurities exploited through illusory hypnosis at the hands of Ebony Maw after getting “rescued” from the void
OK, I didn’t know about Ebony Maw, but… sound familiar, @darklittlestories, @foundlingmother, @fuckyeahrichardiii, @illwynd, @seidrade…?
He’s like an improved replacement for the Other, at least in my perception.
From what I’ve read, he can manipulate the minds of people, hypnotize them and make them ‘live’ illusory scenarios. Mental torture is an element of it too.
They’re very comparable to Wanda’s powers too. I wonder if he also got them from the mind stone. (Movies can interpret it that way, who knows?)
So yes, in light of that, if it’s shown that Ebony Maw was with Thanos when Loki first encountered him, then yes, it’s kind of indicative as to how Thanos may have ’softened’ Loki up for carrying out his agenda of getting the infinity stones.
Sorry, I didn’t make that clear. I tagged people who had been reading my Loki in the Void fic because I elaborated on that idea at length, but I had Thanos do it because I hadn’t heard of Ebony Maw at the time, since I don’t read the comics and I wrote that stuff well over a year ago, when Marvel hadn’t released the hints about the Black Order.
