How are the songs bad

Have you heard them? If not and you’re genuinely asking, it’s because they’re incredibly cheesy, and because for the most part they’re just shoehorned in in a way that slows down the plot rather than advancing it at all. The one exception is “The Trail We Blaze,” which allows them to speed up the hike through the jungle into a montage without dialogue.

If you’re not asking a question so much as expressing disagreement, well… I suppose it’s a matter of taste. I don’t find the songs from The Lion King nearly as silly, even though they’re from the same songwriting team, and that might well be because I first heard them when I was a kid, so I’m used to their flavor of silliness and have developed a nostalgic affection for them. So I might like the songs from El Dorado better if I had first heard them when the movie came out and I was 11, instead of now when I’m 29.
