LOKI:
“This day, the next, a hundred years, it’s nothing. It’s a heartbeat. You’ll never be ready. The only woman whose love you prized will be snatched from you.”

I must have seen this quote a thousand times, but tonight it struck me. “The only woman whose love you prized.” Thor is a thousand years old. This is the first woman he’s given any piece of his heart to in all this time?

I wonder why that could be?

Could he have been, OH, pining for his little brother? Could Loki have been pining right back?

No WONDER Loki was SO SALTY about Jane in the first movie. He’s been wrapped up in Thor for a millennia, and this mortal woman saunters in and gets in a day and a half what Loki’s been hungering for for centuries, completely unearned. And Loki’s in the midst of an identity crisis/mental breakdown on top of it. Of course he sends the Destroyer. Of course he spits out “that woman” like an epithet. Of course he lets go of Gungnir.

Damn.
