Let’s go further than that… shall we? Actual mythology, perhaps. Freyja and Freyr being the most prominent Norse example of straight up incest. If we look at Greek and Roman myth as well, there’s incest peppered throughout. It’s a thing. This sort of concept isn’t exactly new. In most cases there’s some incest somewhere just to further the progeny of the family line in mythology, so… yeah, shipping Thor/Loki isn’t a great leap (particularly with some of those lines).
